Product Description:-

Haldol contains Haloperidol Decanoate, a long-acting depot formulation of the well-known antipsychotic salt Haloperidol. It is indicated for the maintenance treatment of chronic psychotic disorders, particularly schizophrenia, and ensures consistent therapeutic plasma levels for up to 4 weeks with a single IM injection.

Mechanism of action:- Haloperidol is a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist. The decanoate ester is slowly hydrolyzed in the body to release active Haloperidol over time. This sustained release helps:

• Control positive symptoms (delusions, hallucinations)

• Reduce relapse rates.

• Improve treatment adherence in non-compliant patients

Indication:– Maintenance therapy of schizophrenia and other psychoses

Common side effects:-

• Extrapyramidal symptoms (rigidity, tremor, dystonia)

• Sedation, restlessness

• Injection site reactions
